The beef dripping method not only enhances flavor but has become a signature attribute that repeat visitors look forward to. Reviews also highlight the crisply cooked fish, often served fresh and hot, quite unlike the limp offerings found at many other fast-food outlets.
The friendly and attentive staff contribute significantly to the positive experience, as they make diners feel welcomed and appreciated. The nostalgic atmosphere, complimented by the charming decor, appeals to both the young and old, enhancing the overall experience.
Some guests mention the wait times, particularly during peak hours when staffing may be limited. While the food quality is consistently high, the moderate delays can sometimes test patience, especially for those in a hurry.
There are limited vegetarian options available due to the focus on fish and meat-based dishes, which can be a drawback for those not keen on beef dripping. Some guests also wish for more variety in the dessert menu, as the options are currently minimal compared to the extensive savory selections.
A couple of reviewers expressed their desire for more consistent opening hours, particularly during holiday periods, though The Haven generally maintains a solid routine.
The best fish and chips ! Five of us ate in the back room , all meals came together, very fresh and superb food. It felt like I was sitting in my gran’s dining room , a very genuine and nostalgic experience! Loved it.
An excellent chippy in Lytham St Annes. I always call in when I'm in the area. Was in recently for chips, curry and peas but had to wait a while as there were only two members of staff. That would be my only complaint. Aside from that, the food was tasty and good quality and the prices were reasonable. I have attached a recent photo of the menu. (July 2025)
So glad we found this fish and chips shop when we visited Lytham St Anne's. It advertises that they cook in beef dripping and it really does make a difference. The food was cooked to order so you know it's fresh and not been sat there in the warmer for ages. The fish was delicious and crispy, not at all greasy, it was massive for just a regular one too the large must be huge. I had it wish mushy peas which were also nice but just your standard mushy peas. I tried some of my partners chips and curry sauce, the chips were really good and so was the curry sauce. 10/10 for the fish and chips 7/10 for the peas
Gorgeous fish and chips. Friendly staff. There is seating at the back of the shop if you want to eat in.
Best chippy in St Anne's. Beef dripping chips, big portions, food is fresh and tasty. The staff are super friendly too. The "back room" is old fashioned, it's a little traditional "nana's" house time warp. Don't ever change. It's charming and unique. Yep veggies need no apply for chips here as beef dripping is used but for that nostalgic tasty, you can't beat it. It's not on the tourist route, but if you know, you know! This isn't a fast food chippy, it's a cooked fresh food chippy. Have a chat in the que with folk, enjoy the banter with the staff or watch the world go by on the chairs outside. Long live this special place.
